Coping with Post-Weekend GuiltšŸ™ˆ

Feeling guilty after an indulgent Friday or Saturday?

When on a fat loss journey it’s easy to get into cycles of guilt and regret after social occasions where you didn’t ā€˜stick to plan.’

These emotions can often lean-to over restriction in the few days following which usually ends with binging and more guilt!

If you find yourself feeling this way, I want you to try these FIVE tips to get out the cycle and feeling good again āœ…

TIP 1

The first tip is to be PRESENT. Enjoy every moment of your social occasion. The atmosphere, the service, the company, and the food. Being present and cherishing the moment will allow you to fully enjoy and switch off which we all need sometimes!

TIP 2

Plan your food for the next 2-3 days to ensure you get back to eating well and feeling good in your mind and your body. Lots of micronutrient dense foods like greens and healthy fats to give your body a boost of nutrients! This is NOT the time to restrict. FEED your body the good stuff.

TIP 3

Ensure to drink 3-4 liters of water. Water is ESSENTIAL for our bodies to function optimally. If you’ve been drinking, your body will be especially thankful for the hydration.

TIP 4

Set yourself a step target so that you can keep your energy expenditure at an appropriate level.

TIP 5

Talk back to your negative thoughts. The same way we subconsciously have negatives thoughts about ourselves and our actions, we can also create positive ones! As soon as a negative thought comes into your head, catch it and tell yourself, ā€˜ I had a wonderful social weekend doing XYZ.

I was present and enjoyed every moment. Now I’m honouring my body and getting back to the actions that I know make me feel good LONGTERM.’
