How Do You Stay Motivated?

Motivation.. what a loaded word! Do you ever feel totally unmotivated?

Especially with the current pandemic, it's been SO hard for people to get moving and have the motivation to do much.

Having covid has forced me to slow down & that means I sometimes lose my momentum in ALL aspects of my life.

Whether you have an illness that is draining you physically and/or mentally or you're just struggling to be able to put what you want to do into action - you're not alone. So what can we do about it?

I know I need REST (&lots of it!). I need to mentally switch off and do things that nourish me physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually BEFORE I can set any new goals or even complete some tasks I have ‘still pending’.

You know I love talking about the importance of having a WHY...

To have motivation you require a why (why this task/goal is important to you) and when you have a why, you then have the momentum which targets the how. (How you will do it)

Understanding how you're going to accomplish something, whether a large or small task, can help in gaining that momentum that propels you into motivating yourself and making a change. Focusing on the positives of getting tasks/goals done is key and will help you feel more motivated to complete them.

If you’re not excited about something or really understand how important it is for you to do it, why would you? We all need a reason.

Try to differentiate between the times when you:

- Need a why (to get started)
- Need rest (to keep yourself well so that you can then tackle whatever it is you need to do)
