
Let’s talk about stress baby, let’s talk about you & me 🎵 😉
I moved house a couple months ago & it was bloody stressful.
Actually, in the last year, I’ve moved house THREE TIMES! South to North to East. I get around 😅
So... I think this qualifies me to give some good advice on stress management? ☺️😇
1. Whatever task needs completing - OVER estimate how long it will take. This is a golden rule for me & something I apply to all areas of life!
2. When you start feeling stressed, slow down & identify the trigger (what set you off?)
3. Take a breath & consider is this something in your control- yes or no?
4. Breath work - Actively practice slow breathing to switch on your parasympathetic nervous system. It’s responsible for relaxation & slowing of heart rate!
5. Use Affirmations regularly - ‘Today I will not stress over the things I cannot control.’ The more you use them, the quicker you rewire your thoughts.
6. Lean on your Oils- my go to’s are Serenity Blend, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine & Citrus Bliss blend! Essential oils impact your LIMBIC system (the part of your brain where thoughts, memories, beliefs and emotions are housed). They are the PERFECT tool for helping you navigate tricky emotions & stay more balanced. More about these oils in an upcoming post 👀
7. Write a list of your gratitudes ( this is helping rewire the neurological pathways to focus on the good, right NOW- stress is always linked to the future.
8. Sleep. Supercharge your sleep by taking a magnesium bath before bed. This will help your nervous system relax and unwind. (Double magic if you use your oils- Tip 6)
9. Movement- Moving has been shown to allow the body to process stress. Dancing, yoga, walking, running- whatever your jam- just do it!
10. Laugh- whether that’s calling a friend or watching a funny film, get your laughs in. Failing both of those options, fake laugh to yourself in the mirror and soon enough you’ll be laughing at how ridiculous you feel! 😂
