I'm a PT and I'm not perfect!

Every stretch mark you have shares a story, 

Today, I want you to consider what your story is 💙

First things first,

Your life’s purpose is NOT to be desirable.

Ye,t you’ve made it your mission to put yourself down at every possible moment

Sometimes, not even realising it….

If there was a way to calculate the amount of time you’ve spent worrying about your body & critiquing it, how would you feel about that number?

Sad? Disappointed? Maybe even angry?

I’ve been there. 

For years, I was caught up in a storm of shame..

Before losing weight I was ashamed for being ‘too big’ 

& AFTER losing weight, for not being ‘small enough’

I relied on the scales to keep me happy. 

If I hadn’t lost weight or seen a particular number, it would affect my ENTIRE day. 

I weighed myself several times, daily, hoping for the number to drop lower.

& of course if it wasn’t a ‘low enough number’, the negative self talk would start 

I would tell myself off and restrict my food 

This always ended up with more binging and of course more self hate ..

Would you repeat the negative self talk about yourself to your best friend? Tell her to eat less?

How about to your daughter?

Would you stand there and point out her cellulite & her scars? Make her aware of every way she isn’t perfect ?

No? 

Yet, WE , have normalised this way of talking about ourselves 

We’ll stand in the mirror and critique 

or catch our reflection and shudder in disgust 

Avoiding our photo being taken

Dreading the beach

Or social occasions where we have to dress up 👗 

& the irony of all of this is..

that self hatred only breeds NEGATIVE choices

When you don’t like what you see

When you don’t respect yourself 

When you don’t self care

You can’t make good choices for yourself 

& ultimately, if you don’t make good choices for yourself, you won’t reach your goals 💓 

I want you to make me a promise,

Just for one day, be a little kinder

Smile & embrace the wobbly bits that you’ve been conditioned to hate

Question your negative thoughts

Over time, your actions will change & you will feel motivated to do whatever it is, you need to do to be happy 🤗

& If that IS to lose weight, you’ll be able to do so from a place of love, rather than hate.
